He is a third generation member of the world famous Westmores of Hollywood, the founders of the Hollywood Makeup scene, since the early days of Silent Films to today's Features and Television shows.
As a working Makeup Artist in the field today, Marvin has the opportunity to keep his skills at their peak, working side by side with other leading Makeup Artists. This allows him to keep in touch with the needs of the industry and maintain the Academy's up-to-date "Living Curriculum". A curriculum that reflects not only the needs of the industry but what it takes to be a successful, working makeup artist.
Having previously owned two successful salons, Marv understands the industry and truly knows what works and what doesn't when it comes to operating a thriving high-end salon. His expertise and advice is some of the most respected and sought after in the business.
He is President and Chairman of the Hollywood Makeup Artist and Hairstylist Union. He served on their Board of Directors for 12 years, was their Director of Makeup Education for 6 years as well as serving on various committees. He has been, and is, an active member of the Union for 35 plus years.
Mr. Westmore is also an active member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, the Color Association of the United States and the Hollywood History Museum. He has six Emmy Nominations and one British Academy Award nomination for his work on the epic film "Blade Runner".
Marvin Westmore is a licensed Esthetician and a licensed Instructor for Private Post Secondary and Vocational Education. He is the only Makeup School founder and owner who is a working professional makeup artist and as such knows what skills are truly needed to be a successful, working Makeup Artist.
