Spas, an $11.1 billion industry, promise to be our caretaker while we’re on vacation, whether it be a few hours or a few days. There are destination spas and day spas, club spas and mineral-springs spas, catering to everybody from teen to adult.
Along with typical pedicures, manicures, and facials, spas are now offering wraps and baths, eyelash perming and dying, eyelash extensions, airbrush tanning, makeup application and consultation, and camouflage makeup. Medical spas are claiming an increasing part of the market, offering Botox injections, laser hair removal and more. It is no wonder that resort spas, destination spas, day spas and Medi-spas have virtually tripled in the last two years, with nearly 12,000 spas in the U.S.
Spas have become a way of life. Their accessibility and importance in helping to relieve stress and take care of oneself has created a huge money market for professionals in this rapidly growing industry. Prices can range from $65, for a facial at a no-frills day spa, to $90-100 and up, at a resort style spa. Makeup consultations range from $65-150 and up and camouflage makeup can reach upwards of $200. Cosmeceutical’s sales have also jumped 7% to reach $13.3 billion in sales.
The Spa/Salon/Medi-Spa industry is rapidly growing and requires well-educated professionals to deliver the services necessary to maintain a successful business. Through this industry you can create a financial and rewarding career. |
